Indian equities remained lower in noon trade on Wednesday. Capital goods and metal stocks witnessed a fall whereas consumer durables and FMCG stocks registered a gain.
At 12.24 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 52.69 points or 0.20% at 25,938.54 with 13 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 17.70 points or 0.23% at 7,731 with 25 components falling.
Major losers were L&T (7.04%), SSTL (3.13%), Tata Power (1.93%), and SBI (1.75%).
Top gainers were Bharti Airtel (4.77%), Gail India (1.91%), ITC (1.47%), and ICICI Bank (1.27%).
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts declining -0.37% and -0.35% respectively.
The Consumer Durables index was at 8,592.45, up by 76.34 points or by 0.90%. The FMCG index was at 7,221.19, up by 36.35 points or by 0.51%.
The Capital Goods index was at 14,758.46, down by 743.07 points or by 4.79%. The Metal index was at 12,862.36, down by 138.49 points or by 1.07%.
