European stock markets settled lower on Monday. Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 lost 3.44 points or 0.11 percent to settle at 3,171.55.

While UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 fell 3.48 points or 0.05 percent to close at 6,788.07.

Germany's benchmark index DAX lost 45.84 points or 0.48 percent to end at 9,598.17.

Meanwhile, French benchmark index CAC 40 went up 14.22 points or 0.33 percent to end at 4,344.77.
