Idea Cellular, one of the leading telecom operators and a part of the Aditya Birla group, today reported a rise of 57.24% in consolidated net profit for the first-quarter of fiscal 2014.
It earned a profit of Rs 7.28 billion for the quarter ended Jun. 30, 2014, compared with Rs 4.63 billion, a year ago.
Analysts, on average, expected Idea Cellular to report a profit of Rs 6.30 billion, on revenue of Rs 73.36 billion.
Quarterly revenues totaled Rs 75.61 billion, an increase of 15.63% over Rs 65.39 billion in the same period a year ago.
Shares of the company gained Rs 1.45, or 1.05%, to settle at Rs 139.80. The total volume of shares traded was 900,100 at the BSE (Monday).
