Jet Airways, India's premier international airline, today announced the addition of a second direct flight from Mumbai to Colombo, due to popular demand.

The company will operate Boeing 737 aircraft effective Nov. 7, 2014. The airline has introduced an attractive return fare of Rs 17,000, inclusive of taxes, with a sale validity until August 31, 2014.

The introduction of this evening flight complements the late night flight from Mumbai to Colombo. Jet Airways is the only airline to operate two flights a day to the island nation.

Gaurang Shetty, senior vice-president, commercial, Jet Airways said, ''Jet Airways is delighted to introduce an evening service to Colombo following increased demand from the trade and tourist traffic. This flight will enhance seamless connectivity to Europe, North America, Gulf and Domestic India along with our codeshare and interline partners. We are confident this direct service to and from Colombo will prove immensely popular with our guests.''

Shares of the company gained Rs 3.85, or 1.55%, to settle at Rs 252.05 at the BSE (Tuesday).
