GAIL (India) clarified on the news item appearing in a leading financial newspaper titled 'Share climbs on report of Co. acquiring stake in more shale gas assets in US'.

The company said that, ''apart from participation in Carrizo's Eagle Ford asset in 2011, GAIL has so far not acquired any shale gas asset in US.''

Shares of the company declined Rs 6.40, or 1.37%, to trade at Rs 461. The total volume of shares traded was 75,466 at the BSE (11.23 a.m., Thursday).
