Tata Motors announced that Ravi Kant, non-executive vice chairman of the company retired from the board on May 31, 2014 on attaining the age of 70 as per the company's retirement policy.

The board of directors place on record their appreciation of the contribution of Ravi Kant during his tenure with the company including as managing director for the period Jul. 29, 2005 to Jun. 1, 2009 and thereafter in his capacity as non-executive vice chairman.

Shares of the company gained Rs 6.55, or 1.58%, to settle at Rs 422. The total volume of shares traded was 290,211 at the BSE ( Monday).
