As part of improving customer experience and providing clients with relevant products, Federal Bank has enhanced its online account opening facility for NRIs.

With this, NRI prospects from across the globe can open non-resident savings, current account online with their preferred Federal Bank branch, from anywhere in the world and at their convenience.

The bank has also arranged for free courier pick up facility of the account opening documents in select countries that include UAE, USA, UK, Hong Kong, China, South Africa and Turkey.

''Having a  strong NR Franchise and being the preferred bank of NRIs, Federal Bank is continuously improving its products and services for NR patrons. This new initiative will be appreciated by the NR community,'' said A Surendran, general manager, head- retail & International Banking.

Shares of the bank gained Rs 2.75, or 2.39%, to trade at Rs 117.65. The total volume of shares traded was 4,224,640 at the BSE (1.03 p.m., Tuesday).
