Torrent Power said a sharp rise in standalone net profit for the quarter ended March 2014. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 7.98 times to Rs 1,774.50 million from Rs 222.40 million in the same quarter previous year.
Net sales for the quarter rose 10.92% to Rs 22,035.10 million, compared with Rs 19,867 million for the prior year period.
Earnings per share for the quarter stood at Rs 3.76, registering 8.00 times growth over previous year period.

Shares of the company declined Rs 10.35, or 7.35%, to settle at Rs 130.40. The total volume of shares traded was 2,071,754 at the BSE (Tuesday).
