Crude oil prices closed lower in futures market on Tuesday on projections that a government report tomorrow will show that U.S. crude stockpiles climbed last week.
Light sweet crude oil (WTI) futures plunged 2.24 dollar or 2.15 percent to close at USD 102.13 a barrel at the New York-based commodity exchange NYMEX. Jan-1970 futures witnessed a high of 104.36 dollars and a low of 101.69 dollars after opening at USD 104.36 a barrel. The contract has recorded volume of 46,476.
Brent crude oil futures fell 0.68 dollar or 0.62 percent to close at USD 109.27 a barrel at NYMEX. Jan-1970 futures recorded a high of 109.98 dollars and a low of 108.54 dollars after opening at USD 109.88 a barrel. The contract has recorded volume of 6,487
WTI-Brent spread was stable on 41773.
In refined products, RBOB gasoline futures remained flat at 3.10 a gallon at the NYMEX. Jan-1970 futures recorded a high of 3.10 dollars and a low of 3.07 dollars after opening at USD 3.09 a gallon. The contract has recorded volume of 49,299.
In refined products, RBOB heating oil futures remained flat at 3.00 a gallon at the NYMEX. Jan-1970 futures recorded a high of 3.02 dollars and a low of 2.98 dollars after opening at USD 3.01 a gallon. The contract has recorded volume of 27,405.
