Sensex gain 65 points in early trade; Bharti, BHEL rise

Indian equities are trading on positive note on Monday. At 9.17 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 64.65 points or 0.29% at 22,693.49 with 26 components gaining.

 

 

The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 15.91 points or 0.07% at 22,644.75.

 

Sensex Movers

 

Reliance Industries contributed rise of 14.71 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I T C (11.04 points), I C I C I Bank (8.61 points), H D F C Bank (7.35 points) and State Bank Of India (7.16 points).

 

However, Wipro contributed fall of 13.86 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Motors (4.89 points), Hindustan Unilever (2.64 points), Sterlite Industries (India) (0 points) and ACC (0.01 points).

 

 

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (1.14%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.08%), Jindal Steel & Power (1.00%), State Bank Of India (0.83%), NTPC (0.77%), and Reliance Industries (0.76%).  

On the other hand, Wipro (4.36%), Tata Motors (0.65%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.36%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

 

 

Sectors in Limelight

 

The Oil & Gas index was at 9,769.60, up by 55.90 points or by 0.58%. The major gainers were Castrol India (1.15%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (0.58%), Cairn India (0.35%), G A I L (India) (0.13%) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (0.11%).

 

The Realty index was at 1,499.47, up by 6.63 points or by 0.44%. The major gainers were Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.22%), Godrej Properties (0.96%), Indiabulls Real Estate (0.64%), Anant Raj (0.59%) and D L F (0.06%).

 

On the other hand, the FMCG index was at 6,991.03, down by 18.31 points or by 0.26%. The major losers were Hindustan Unilever (0.36%) and Jubilant FoodWorks (0.29%).

 

Market Breadth

 

Market breadth was negative with 571 advances against 146 declines.

 

Value and Volume Toppers

 

Multi Commodity Exchange of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 30.34 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 22.84 million), Wipro (Rs. 22.25 million) and Adani Enterprises (Rs. 13.98 million).

 

The volume chart was led by Genera Agri Corp with trades of over 0.15 million shares. It was followed by Kingfisher Airlines (0.12 million), I V R C L (0.12 million) and Housing Development and Infrastructure (0.07 million).
