Tata Motors forays into Philippines

Tata Motors announced its entry into the Philippines market at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), 2014, held at the World trade Centre.

The company will commence its business in Philippines with exports of the Manza, the Vista, the Indigo and the Indica from its passenger vehicles portfolio and the Xenon, the Ace and the Super Ace from its commercial vehicles range. Tata Motors has appointed PilipinasTajAutogroup Inc., as its distributor in Philippines.

R T Wasan, head, International Business, Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors, said, ''Philippines is one of the key markets for Tata Motors in the ASEAN Region. With Horizonext, we have embarked on a journey with a commitment to excite our customer globally and we look forward to unfold our strategy in Philippines for a deeper presence in this market across several product segments. To start with we have lined up the Xenon, the Super Ace and the Ace at MIAS based on our intense study and understanding of the customers and their requirements in Philippines.''

Johnny Oommen, head, International Business, Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors, said, ''We are delighted to announce our entry in this exciting market. We will enter with the Manza Sedan, Vista Hatch, Indigo Sedan and Indica Hatch. Going forward we plan to augment our offerings by including other products in our portfolio on a regular basis. We are very confident with our distribution partner and we believe that their extensive network along with our global expertise will bring into the Philippines market a range of exciting Tata vehicles. We hope our new range appeals to customers and builds trust in the brand, which is integral for us.''

Shares of the company declined Rs 2.3, or 0.56%, to trade at Rs 411.25. The total volume of shares traded was 365,050 at the BSE (Thursday).
