Shalimar Paints said that a fire broke at the company's Howrah plant early morning today.
''The company's staff immediately took steps to control it and also the local fire service department was informed accordingly,'' the company said.
''With the collective efforts of the Fire Brigade and the Company's staff, the fire has been brought under control and there are no major injuries or any causality reported,'' it said.
''There has been damage to the plant, machinery and the inventory however the same are adequately covered under insurance. The reasons of the fire are being determined,'' it added.
Shares of the company declined Rs 2.5, or 3.38%, to settle at Rs 71.50. The total volume of shares traded was 5,086 at the BSE (Wednesday).
