NTPC Q3 profit rises 21.9%, beats estimates

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) today reported a rise of 21.89% in its a net profit to Rs 25.97 billion as compared to Rs 21.30 billion in the same period last year. Analysts on average had expected profit of Rs 24.76 billion.

Total income has increased by 1.76% to Rs 165.3 billion for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2012 from Rs 162.44 billion in the year ago period.

Net sales of the company increased by 2.89% to Rs 157.75 billion for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2012 as compared to Rs 153.32 billion in the year ago period. Net sales was below the market expectations of Rs 166.81 billion.

Shares of the company declined Rs 2, or 1.22%, to trade at Rs 162.15. The total volume of shares traded was 478,272 at the BSE (2.53 p.m., Monday).
