European stocks gained in early trade on Wednesday after the US-based Alcoa Inc. posted better-than-expected sales growth and investors awaited German industrial-output data. U.S. index futures and Asian shares also climbed.
UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 rose 23.75 points or 0.39% to trade at 6,077.23. French benchmark index CAC 40 declined 0.42 points or 15.09% to trade at 3,721.52. Germany's benchmark index DAX increased 23.87 points or 0.31% to trade at 7,720.14.
US stock-index futures trading higher Dow Jones index futures were up 21 points to 13,288, while S&P 500 index futures were up 2.5 points to 1,454.5. The Nasdaq composite index futures rose 4.25 points to 2,718.25 (03.48 ET).
