Rupee trades strong against US dollar in noon trade

Indian rupee gained against the greenback in noon trade on Tuesday. Rupee was higher by 18 paise or 0.33% against US dollar to Rs 54.81 compared to previous close of 54.99 (12.28 p.m.). It opened at Rs 54.90 against US dollar.

In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.09% to 79.69 after opening at 79.76 (01:32 ET).

At 12.32 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 150.97 points or 0.78% at 19,577.68 with 27 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 43.85 points or 0.74% at 5,948.95 with 47 components gaining.
