Asian stocks fell on Friday after U.S. House Republican leaders canceled a planned vote that would permit higher taxes amid stalled budget talks. 

Japanese benchmark index, Nikkei 225 fell 99.27 points or 0.99% to close at 9,940.06. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index decreased 153.49 points, or 0.68% to end at 22,506.29. China's Shanghai Composite index declined 12.81 points, or 0.54% to settle at 2,372.

Taiwan's Taiex index fell 75.53 points, or 0.99%, to settle at 7,519.93. South Korea's Kospi index decreased 19.08 points, or 0.95% to end at 1,980.42. Singapore's Straits Times indexed declined 11.96 points, or to 0.38% close at 3,163.56.
