Indian rupee gained against the greenback in noon trade on Friday. Rupee was higher by 15 paise or 0.28% against US dollar to Rs 54.31 compared to previous close of 54.46 (12.07 p.m.). It opened at Rs 54.44 against US dollar.

In the spot market, the Dollar Index decreased 0.16% to 79.80 after opening at 79.96 (01:28 ET).

Euro - USD was trading at 1.31 up 0.19% while USD - Japanese Yen was trading at 83.76 up 0.13% (01:39 ET).

At 12.09 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 88.92 points or 0.46% at 19,318.18 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 31.05 points or 0.53% at 5,882.55 with 31 components gaining.
