Rupee weakens 0.62% against US dollar to 54.47

Indian rupee weekened against US dollar on Friday. Rupee was lower by 33 paise or 0.62% against US dollar to Rs 54.47 compared to previous close of 54.14. It was opened at Rs 54.26 against US dollar. (06:29 ET)

The Sensex declined 62.70 or 0.32% at 19,424.10 with 19 components registering drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty fell by 23.50 or 0.40% at 5,907.40 with 37 components posting drop.

In the spot market, the Dollar Index increased 0.21% to 80.42 compared with previous close of 80.25 (07:13 ET). It was opened at 80.26.
