The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex still trading on a flat note. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 1-month high. Oil & gas, consumer durables and capital goods gained, while banking, FMCG and PSU stocks dipped marginally.
At 12.05 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 21.30 points or 0.12% at 17,186.29 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 9.30 points or 0.18% at 5,138.20 with 29 components gaining.
The Sensex opened flat with a rise of 4.85 points or 0.03% at 17,169.84, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 5.55 points or 0.11%, at 5,134.45.
Sensex Movers
Reliance Industries contributed rise of 44.52 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Larsen & Toubro (16.52 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (5.55 points), Tata Consultancy Services (4.62 points) and Tata Power Company (4.18 points).
However, HDFC Bank contributed fall of 19.69 points in the Sensex. It was followed by ITC (13.48 points), ICICI Bank (12.39 points), Bharti Airtel (8.31 points) and Housing Development Finance Corporation (5.25 points).

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (2.02%), Larsen & Toubro (1.48%), Tata Power Company (1.40%), Tata Motors (1.11%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.08%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.91%).
On the other hand, H D F C Bank (2.26%), ACC (1.63%), Bharti Airtel (1.59%), I T C (1.48%), Jaiprakash Associates (1.08%), and Sterlite Industries (India) (0.97%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.47% and 0.87% respectively.
The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Reliance MediaWorks (2%), Ackruti City (1.43%), A I A Engineering (1.38%), Aban Offshore (1%) and Core Projects and Technologies (0.78%).
The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were A B G Infralogistics (2.2%), INEOS ABS (India) (1.39%), Aarti Industries (0.84%), Abhishek Industries (0.36%) and A B G Shipyard (0.31%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Oil & Gas index was at 9,974.21, up by 164.33 points or by 1.68%. The major gainers were Essar Oil (1.88%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (1.68%), Aban Offshore (1%), Cairn India (0.95%) and G A I L (India) (0.52%).
The Consumer Durables index was at 4,165.87, up by 44.49 points or by 1.08%. The major gainers were Rajesh Exports (1.74%), Blue Star (1.17%), Videocon Industries (1.16%) and Titan Industries (0.64%).
The Capital Goods index was at 13,755.29, up by 121.10 points or by 0.89%. The major gainers were A I A Engineering (1.38%), Bharat Bijlee (0.82%), BEML (0.19%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.07%) and Bharat Electronics (0.07%).
On the other hand, the FMCG index was at 2,790.73, down by 24.9 points or by 0.88%. The major losers were I T C (1.48%), Dabur India (0.9%), United Breweries (0.32%), Britannia Industries (0.27%) and Colgate-Palmolive (India) (0.2%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 1,499 advances against 1,119 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 682.41 million. It was followed by Texmo Pipes and Products (Rs. 638.66 million), Educomp Solutions (Rs. 384.18 million) and Jai Corp (Rs. 345.05 million).
The volume chart was led by Cals Refineries with trades of over 13.33 million shares. It was followed by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision (4.54 million), Texmo Pipes and Products (4.10 million) and Reliance Natural Resources (3.49 million).
