Ranbaxy gets USFDA nod for Acetaminophen tablets

Drug maker, Ranbaxy (Q,N,C,F)* Laboratories has received final approval from United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) to market Acetaminophen tablets on over-the-counter basis.

The said drug would be available in the strength of 650 mg.

Acetaminophen is a widely used over-the-counter analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It is commonly used for the relief of fever, headaches, and other minor aches and pains, and is a major ingredient in numerous cold and flu remedies.

Shares of the company gained Rs 1.85, or 0.44%, to trade at Rs 422.50. The total volume of shares traded was 234,164 at the BSE (4.01 p.m., Wednesday).
