Steel Authority of India (SAIL), the state owned steel maker, is contemplating to add an additional seven million tons of brownfield steel capacity to its Bokaro plant stated Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, reports Economic Times.
The plant is currently undertaking a Rs 115 billion expansion programm e to increase plant capacity from 4.5 million tons to 7.5 million tons by 2010-11. The company has requisite land and other resources at its disposal for the expansion.
The minister said SAIL (Q,N,C,F)* also proposes to set up a 12 million-ton greenfield steel project in Jharkhand, subject to getting necessary resources including iron ore and land.
The company has appointed Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra as its brand ambassador.
Shares of the company declined Rs 0.15, or 0.11%, to settle at Rs 142. The total volume of shares traded was 1,162,976 at the BSE (Thursday). |
