Aurobindo Pharma gets nod from MCC, South Africa

Aurobindo Pharma received another marketing authorization nod from medicines control council (MCC) of South Africa. The council approved lisinopril tablets in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg strengths.
The company, by virtue of this approval can now participate in one of the key segments of South African market. South African market is highly regulated and very important in its geographical sphere.
Lisinopril is the generic version of Zestril marketed by Astra Zeneca. Lisinopril dihydrate is an effective, long acting orally administered ACE inhibitor. It is used often in the management of hypertension.
Lisinopril belongs to a class of drugs that today commands a market value of USD 27 million in South Africa.
Shares of the company were trading higher by Rs 0.25, or 0.04%, at Rs 700.30. Total volume of shares traded at the BSE was 1,235. (11.19 a.m, Tuesday).
