WABAG bags Rs 1 bn World Bank funded sewage treatment order in Philippines

Va Tech Wabag, engaged in the water treatment field, bagged an order from Maynliad Water Services, Philippines for construction of 20 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Tunasan. The project funded by  World Bank and the order value is approximately Rs 1 billion.

After designing and building the plant, WABAG will operate and maintain the plant for a period of one year as part of the contract. This project is unique since this DTP is constructed to handle wastewater flowing into the Laguna Lake which is one of the biggest alternate drinking water sources of Philippines. WABAG has already executed three projects in Philippines at Bagbag, Tatalon and Dona Imelda and is currently executing two large projects at lllugin and Putatan.

Commenting on the development, Coleridge Shelley, director, WABAG Philippines said, ''WABAG, within a few years of its existence in Philippines, has carved a niche in water and waste water treatment market and repeat orders from the existing clients go to prove that WABAG is a trusted partner in Philippines in the water treatment space.''

Shares of the company gained Rs 14.85, or 0.93%, to trade at Rs 1,614. The total volume of shares traded was 1,513 at the BSE (10.03 a.m., Monday).
