Domestic passenger car sales marginal fell for the first time in 15 months after declining marginally by 0.72% to 1,68,303 units in January from 1,69,527 units in the same period last year, said Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
According to the data released by SIAM, sales of commercial vehicles were up 17.53% to 61,683 units in January 2016. Vehicle sales across categories registered a increase to 17,00,257 units from 16,50,227 units in January 2015.
Similarly, motorcycle sales increased marginally 5.93% to 8,72,325 units last month from 8,68,505 units a year ago.
The total two-wheeler sales in January gained 2.63% to 13,62,881 units.
