US stock markets closed lower on Thursday after President-elect Donald Trump, in his eagerly-awaited news briefing the previous day, failed to provide details on fiscal policies that were expected to bolster the economy.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 63.28 points or 0.32 percent to settle at 19,891.00. NASDAQ 100 index fell 8.78 points or 0.17 percent to close at 5,041.43. The broader S&P 500 index declined 4.88 points or 0.21 percent to end at 2,270.44.
