US stock markets closed lower on Friday, led down by Apple and other big tech stocks, but major indexes still posted solid gains in 2016.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 57.18 points or 0.29 percent to settle at 19,762.60. NASDAQ 100 index declined 54.66 points or 1.11 percent to close at 4,863.62. The broader S&P 500 index lost 10.43 points or 0.46 percent to end at 2,238.83.
