US stock markets settled higher on Monday, with major indexes advancing more than 1% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq scoring a record high close following a strong showing by centrist Emmanuel Macron in the French presidential election, which averted fears of a euroskeptic-only runoff.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 216 points or 1.05 percent to settle at 20,763.89. NASDAQ 100 index advanced 65.98 points or 1.21 percent to close at 5,508.03. The broader S&P 500 index gained 25.46 points or 1.08 percent to end at 2,374.15.
