Indian markets continued to gain for the fourth day on Tuesday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high. At 9.30 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 55.07 points or 0.16% at 34,898.58 with 16 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 8.60 points or 0.08% at 10,750.15 with 24 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Wipro (1.91%), Infosys (1.77%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.60%), NTPC (1.25%), Bharti Airtel (1.16%), and Larsen & Toubro (1.01%).
On the other hand, Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.29%), Tata Steel (0.69%), Asian Paints (0.64%), Reliance Industries (0.64%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.53%), and Coal India (0.52%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 817 advances against 821 declines.
Bharti Airtel topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 19,773.23 million. It was followed by Maruti Suzuki India (Rs. 1,294.29 million), R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 254.09 million) and Delta Corp (Rs. 208.10 million).
The volume chart was led by Bharti Airtel with trades of over 38.77 million shares. It was followed by Karuturi Global (2.87 million), India Steel Works (2.19 million) and Urja Global (1.67 million).
