Indian equities are trading on a flat note amid volatility in post noon trade on Tuesday. Metal, capital goods and realty stocks witnessed a gain while power stocks declined. At 12.59 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 6.48 points or 0.02% at 27,497.07 with 14 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 0.95 points or 0.01% at 8,331 with 30 components falling.
Dipen Shah, Head of Private Client Group Research, Kotak Securities said, "Going ahead, markets will focus on the Parliament proceedings, where the Constitutional Amendment Bill for GST is to be taken up today. With the debt-repayment date approaching, Greece will be also a point of focus for the markets. The remaining quarterly results and the accompanying management commentaries will lead to impact on the respective stocks."
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were SSTL (4.83%), Tata Steel (3.99%), ONGC (2.78%), Hindalco (2.25%), TCS (1.58%), and HUL (1.34%).
On the other hand, Cipla (2.08%), Bharti Airtel (1.71%), M&M (1.52%), Bajaj Auto (1.47%), Hero Motocorp (1.46%), and Coal India (1.46%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
The Metal index was at 10,165.91, up by 213.86 points or by 2.15%. The Capital Goods index was at 16,770.03, up by 113.54 points or by 0.68%. The Realty index was at 1,622.71, up by 10.24 points or by 0.64%. On the other hand, the Power index was at 2,125.01, down by 11.96 points or by 0.56%.
