Sensex trades 150 points lower, Wipro, Bharti Airtel drag

Indian equities continued to fall for the third day on Friday. At  9:50 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 150.75 points or 0.43% at 34,998.37. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 39.55 points or 0.37% at 10,643.15.

Major losers in the 30-share index were Wipro (1.60%), Bharti Airtel (1.43%), Larsen & Toubro (1.27%), Asian Paint (1.27%), ICICI Bank (1.08%) and HDFC Bank (1.01%).

On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.40%), Bajaj Auto (1.38%), Reliance (0.87%) and Yes Bank (0.70%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 693 advances against 645 declines.

Indiabulls Housing Finance topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 513.60 million. It was followed by Reliance Communications (Rs. 363.94 million), Bajaj Finance (Rs. 155.56 million) and R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 97.37 million).

The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 19.31 million shares. It was followed by Lycos Internet (7.76 million), Reliance Naval and Engineering (3.11 million) and Electrosteel Steels (1.78 million).
