Sensex slips over 450 points; Nifty below 10,350

Indian markets continued to drop for the second day on Tuesday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading below 1-month low. At 9.38 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 490.01 points or 1.40% at 34,469.71 with 28 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 138.75 points or 1.32% at 10,349.70 with 44 components falling.

Major losers in the 30-share index were ICICI Bank (2.76%), HDFC Bank (2.47%), Reliance Industries (2.42%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (2.41%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.38%), and Hero Motocorp (1.84%).

On the other hand, State Bank Of India (0.64%) were the only gainers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 357 advances against 852 declines.

Yes Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 232.91 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 172.63 million), Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs. 99.47 million) and Adani Power (Rs. 91.43 million).

The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 2.32 million shares. It was followed by Punj Lloyd (2.04 million), Adani Power (1.84 million) and Yes Bank (1.36 million).
