Sensex rises over 150 points; Nifty rebounds above 10,400

Indian equities bounced back on Wednesday snapping earlier losses. At 9.19 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 153.65 points or 0.46% at 33,857.24 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 65.60 points or 0.63% at 10,426.00 with 38 components gaining.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (1.23%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.13%), Bharti Airtel (1.04%), ITC (0.88%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.87%), and Infosys (0.73%).

On the other hand, Coal India (1.24%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.72%), NTPC (0.40%), Hindustan Unilever (0.19%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.19%), and Asian Paints (0.06%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 799 advances against 255 declines.

Intellivate Capital Ventures -PPS topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 0.00 million. It was followed by Tata FMP - Series 46 - Scheme A - Direct Plan - Growth (Rs. 0.00 million), Tata FMP - Series 46 - Scheme E - Regular Plan - Growth (Rs. 0.00 million) and Tata FMP - Series 46 - Scheme E - Direct Plan - Growth (Rs. 0.00 million).

The volume chart was led by Ganesh Benzoplast with trades of over 0.11 million shares. It was followed by Bhushan Steel (0.08 million), State Bank Of India (0.07 million) and IDBI Bank (0.04 million).
