Indian markets continued to rally for the seventh day on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 1-month high. At 9.51 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 120.22 points or 0.35% at 34,221.35 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 24.70 points or 0.24% at 10,483.35 with 38 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.67%), Bharti Airtel (1.29%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.26%), ICICI Bank (1.22%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.12%), and Axis Bank (1.06%).
On the other hand, Tata Motors (0.57%), Hindustan Unilever (0.55%), Larsen & Toubro (0.27%), Infosys (0.17%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.12%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.07%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,074 advances against 481 declines.
Piramal Enterprises topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 447.61 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 167.14 million), Escorts (Rs. 88.19 million) and Infosys (Rs. 75.00 million).
The volume chart was led by Sanwaria Consumer with trades of over 2.14 million shares. It was followed by Aplaya Creations (1.03 million), IDBI Bank (0.97 million) and RMG Alloy Steel (0.55 million).
