Indian equities continued to gain for the second day on Wednesday. At 9.16 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 68.62 points or 0.22% at 31,517.65 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 31.70 points or 0.32% at 9,825.85 with 33 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Power Company (2.58%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.83%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.58%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.47%), Tata Motors (1.16%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.99%).
On the other hand, Larsen & Toubro (1.69%), Bharti Airtel (0.77%), Asian Paints (0.71%), Cipla (0.55%), NTPC (0.49%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.36%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 580 advances against 163 declines.
