Indian equities gained further ground in the late morning trade on Friday ahead of Economic Survey. At 11.35 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 185.71 points or 0.65% at 28,932.36 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 47.75 points or 0.55% at 8,731.60 with 41 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Larsen & Toubro (4.01%), Tata Power Company (3.93%), Hindalco Industries (3.01%), Coal India (2.81%), Sesa Sterlite (2.69%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.27%).
On the other hand, I T C (2.39%), G A I L (India) (1.30%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.18%), Wipro (0.83%), Hindustan Unilever (0.51%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.38%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 1.09% and 1.07% respectively.
The Realty index was at 1,826.77, up by 63.21 points or by 3.58%. The Capital Goods index was at 17,722.41, up by 550.41 points or by 3.21%. The Metal index was at 10,580.30, up by 298.21 points or by 2.90%. On the other hand, the FMCG index was at 8,469, down by 122.25 points or by 1.42%.
