Indian markets continued to rally for the second day on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 4-month high. At 10.31 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 163.86 points or 0.58% at 28,465.13 with 19 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 42.40 points or 0.48% at 8,820.40 with 36 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were HDFC Bank (7.05%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (6.41%), Tata Motors (2.85%), Cipla (2.79%), Tata Power Company (2.45%), and Maruti Suzuki India (2.17%).
On the other hand, ITC (2.85%), Coal India (1.64%), Asian Paints (1.56%), ICICI Bank (1.14%), Bajaj Auto (0.81%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.71%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,474 advances against 577 declines.
H D F C Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 3,762.29 million. It was followed by Engineers India (Rs. 470.81 million), Cadila Healthcare (Rs. 321.34 million) and Wockhardt (Rs. 203.51 million).
The volume chart was led by Engineers India with trades of over 3.17 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (3.14 million), H D F C Bank (2.66 million) and Unitech (2.33 million).
