Indian markets continued to drop in early trade for the fifth day on Tuesday. At 9.48 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 40.64 points or 0.15% at 27,845.57 with 12 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 16.10 points or 0.19% at 8,464.20 with 26 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (1.04%), I T C (1.04%), Coal India (0.75%), I C I C I Bank (0.69%), Bajaj Auto (0.66%), and H D F C Bank (0.64%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (9.74%), Wipro (3.30%), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (2.27%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.95%), Cipla (1.33%), and Hindalco Industries (1.30%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
The Consumer Durables index was at 10,764.48, up by 51.81 points or by 0.48%. The Capital Goods index was at 17,083.01, up by 61.86 points or by 0.36%. The Bankex index was at 20,854.25, up by 48.88 points or by 0.23%. On the other hand, the TECk index was at 6,022.43, down by 43.43 points or by 0.72%.
Market breadth was negative with 862 advances against 747 declines.
