Sensex, Nifty trade flat; Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank up over 2% each

Indian markets continued to rally for the second day on Thursday. At 12.53 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 37.50 points or 0.09% at 41,360.50 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 6.00 points or 0.05% at 12,119.90 with 23 components falling.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (2.91%), Indusind Bank (2.89%), Yes Bank (1.98%), State Bank Of India (1.61%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.52%), and Tata Motors (1.42%).

On the other hand, Asian Paints (1.62%), Hindustan Unilever (1.46%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.69%), Bharti Airtel (0.58%), Reliance Industries (0.41%), and NTPC (0.40%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,093 advances against 875 declines.

Nippon India ETF Liquid BeES topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 11.29 million. It was followed by Resonance Specialties (Rs. 2.12 million), Mangalam Organics (Rs. 1.45 million) and Indraprastha Medical Corporation (Rs. 1.09 million).

The volume chart was led by Housing Development and Infrastructure with trades of over 0.08 million shares. It was followed by Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (0.06 million), Dra Consultants (0.06 million) and Shiva Cement (0.06 million).
