Indian equities still trading on a sluggish note towards the close on Tuesday. At 2.58 P.M., the Sensex was trading down 52.04 points or 0.19% at 27,438.55 with 16 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 23.40 points or 0.28% at 8,308.55 with 35 components falling.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Sesa Sterlite (6.57%), Tata Steel (4.79%), Hindalco Industries (4.58%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.71%), Hindustan Unilever (1.54%), and Tata Consultancy Services (1.15%).
On the other hand, Cipla (2%), State Bank Of India (1.69%), Bharti Airtel (1.64%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.63%), Infosys (1.62%), and NTPC (1.61%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
The Power index was at 2,118.50, down by 18.47 points or by 0.86%. The Consumer Durables index was at 10,514.60, down by 51.96 points or by 0.49%. The TECk index was at 5,871.39, down by 27.94 points or by 0.47%. On the other hand, the Metal index was at 10,210.66, up by 258.61 points or by 2.60%.
