Indian equities continued to drop for the second day on Wednesday. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a decline of 1.86 points or 0.01% at 32,400.51, 17 components registering drop. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 6.40 points or 0.06%, at 10,141.15.35 components registering drop.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Dr Reddy's Laboratories (3.33%), Tata Steel (1.64%), I T C (1.27%), Wipro (1.07%), State Bank Of India (1.03%), and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.01%).
On the other hand, Hero Motocorp (2.29%), Tata Motors (1.98%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.96%), Hindustan Unilever (1.66%), I C I C I Bank (1.21%), and Asian Paints (1.14%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,160 advances against 1,266 declines.
Magma Fincorp topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 877.34 million. It was followed by Reliance Industrial Infrastructure (Rs. 442.64 million), Housing and Urban Development Corporation (Rs. 291.86 million) and Motherson Sumi Systems (Rs. 276.35 million).
The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 14.40 million shares. It was followed by Birla Power Solutions (12.09 million), Unitech (6.26 million) and Magma Fincorp (4.86 million).
