Indian markets still trading on a sluggish note on Monday due to selling pressure seen in metal stocks while oil & gas and auto stocks were trading higher. At 11.50 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 115.62 points or 0.41% at 27,841.88 with 22 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 31.60 points or 0.37% at 8,427.35 with 33 components falling.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (2.78%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.99%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.95%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.31%), I C I C I Bank (0.19%), and H D F C Bank (0.12%).
On the other hand, I T C (2.53%), Coal India (1.89%), Vedanta (1.66%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.36%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.20%), and Hindustan Unilever (1.11%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
The Oil & Gas index was at 9,564.95, up by 67.92 points or by 0.72%. The Auto index was at 19,240.62, up by 61.88 points or by 0.32%.
On the other hand, the Metal index was at 9,754.52, down by 105.82 points or by 1.07%.
Market breadth was negative with 1,051 advances against 1,080 declines.
