Indian equities extended gains in the post noon trade on Monday on the back of strong global cues. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 1-month high. At 12.55 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 402.48 points or 1.53% at 26,623.43 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 113.45 points or 1.43% at 8,064.35 with 41 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (6.77%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (4.47%), Tata Steel (4.03%), Larsen & Toubro (3.57%), Hindalco Industries (3.47%), and I C I C I Bank (3.24%).
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India (3.91%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.24%), Hindustan Unilever (1.20%), Infosys (0.46%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.26%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,723 advances against 628 declines.
