Indian equities bounced back on Wednesday snapping earlier losses. At 9.25 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 105.96 points or 0.30% at 35,392.70 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 39.60 points or 0.37% at 10,750.05 with 37 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Mahindra & Mahindra (1.82%), Axis Bank (1.63%), Bharti Airtel (0.88%), Tata Steel (0.78%), and Bajaj Auto (0.76%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.91%), Wipro (0.82%), Coal India (0.46%), Tata Power Company (0.27%), ITC (0.24%), and Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.18%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 767 advances against 308 declines.
R*Shares Liquid BeES topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 153.96 million. It was followed by Birla Sun Life Fixed Term Plan - Series IP - Regular Plan - Growth (Rs. 111.30 million), Vakrangee (Rs. 109.12 million) and Cipla (Rs. 49.25 million).
The volume chart was led by Birla Sun Life Fixed Term Plan - Series IP - Regular Plan - Growth with trades of over 10.00 million shares. It was followed by Vakrangee (2.29 million), Alok Industries (2.24 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (0.81 million).
