Indian equities continued to gain for the third day on Thursday. At 9.28 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 69.71 points or 0.22% at 31,840.60 with 14 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 16.45 points or 0.17% at 9,913.75 with 26 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Infosys (3.21%), Reliance Industries (1.58%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.84%), Tata Steel (0.83%), GAIL (India) (0.77%), and Bharti Airtel (0.75%).
On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever (0.90%), Tata Motors (0.54%), Larsen & Toubro (0.45%), HDFC Bank (0.36%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.35%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.32%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 917 advances against 324 declines.
H C L Technologies topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 214.93 million. It was followed by Spicejet (Rs. 115.90 million), Infosys (Rs. 69.48 million) and Vakrangee (Rs. 67.47 million).
The volume chart was led by Lanco Infratech with trades of over 5.93 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (1.48 million), Sintex Industries (1.07 million) and Spicejet (0.88 million).
