Sensex gains 65 points; Nifty above 10,600

Indian markets bounced back on Monday snapping earlier losses. At 9.43 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 65.99 points or 0.19% at 34,914.29 with 16 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 19.55 points or 0.18% at 10,615.95 with 25 components gaining.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were ICICI Bank (2.09%), State Bank Of India (2.05%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.96%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.78%), Larsen & Toubro (1.41%), and Bharti Airtel (1.11%).

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India (2.05%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.66%), Hero Motocorp (1.65%), Bajaj Auto (0.99%), Wipro (0.82%), and Reliance Industries (0.71%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 687 advances against 783 declines.

Future Lifestyle Fashions topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 8,093.11 million. It was followed by Teamlease Services (Rs. 138.83 million), Reliance Communications (Rs. 128.23 million) and Century Textiles & Industries (Rs. 117.11 million).

The volume chart was led by Future Lifestyle Fashions with trades of over 19.10 million shares. It was followed by Electrosteel Steels (13.29 million), Reliance Communications (8.25 million) and Reliance Naval and Engineering (1.15 million).
