Indian equities bounced back on Friday ahead of Economic Survey. At 10.24 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 151.79 points or 0.53% at 28,898.44 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 47.75 points or 0.55% at 8,731.60 with 39 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Power Company (3.80%), Larsen & Toubro (2.97%), Sesa Sterlite (2.88%), Coal India (2.42%), Hindalco Industries (2.04%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.90%).
On the other hand, I T C (2.03%), G A I L (India) (1.29%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.85%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.43%), NTPC (0.29%), and Wipro (0.23%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.93% and 0.88% respectively.
