Indian markets continued to gain for the second day on Wednesday. At 10.38 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 29.66 points or 0.09% at 34,330.13 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 15.25 points or 0.14% at 10,555.00 with 25 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (2.45%), Wipro (1.84%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.45%), Reliance Industries (1.04%), Coal India (0.88%), and Infosys (0.87%).
On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation Of India (2.15%), State Bank Of India (1.84%), Axis Bank (1.52%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.30%), Asian Paints (1.28%), and I C I C I Bank (0.97%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,404 advances against 748 declines.
Safari Industries (India) topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 533.59 million. It was followed by Bharti Infratel (Rs. 410.78 million), Spicejet (Rs. 247.64 million) and Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company (Rs. 235.82 million).
The volume chart was led by Uttam Value Steels with trades of over 11.41 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (4.65 million), Unitech (2.20 million) and Firstsource Solutions (1.79 million).
