Sensex falls 60 points; Nifty trades at 10,518

Indian equities dropped on Monday erasing earlier gains. At 9.52 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 60.90 points or 0.17% at 34,950.75 with 14 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 34.45 points or 0.33% at 10,518.55 with 25 components falling.

Major losers in the 30-share index were NTPC (2.88%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (2.03%), ICICI Bank (1.48%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.33%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.10%), and Tata Power Company (0.99%).

On the other hand, Axis Bank (1.81%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.65%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.39%), State Bank Of India (1.26%), Cipla (0.82%), and Maruti Suzuki India (0.80%)were the major gainers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 948 advances against 547 declines.

N I I T Technologies topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 537.54 million. It was followed by PC Jeweller (Rs. 311.57 million), NTPC (Rs. 254.74 million) and I C I C I Bank (Rs. 215.45 million).

The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 3.36 million shares. It was followed by PC Jeweller (3.25 million), Vakrangee (1.96 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (1.89 million).
