Indian equities ended higher on Monday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 131.52 or 0.38% at 34,865.10 with 17 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 40.00 or 0.38% at 10,512.50 with 26 components registering rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Infosys (2.95%), ITC (2.51%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.78%).
On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever (2.68%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.63%), ICICI Bank (1.76%), Axis Bank (1.51%), Larsen & Toubro (1.46%), and Maruti Suzuki India (1.39%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,522 advances against 845 declines.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 330.32 million. It was followed by Balrampur Chini Mills (Rs. 236.18 million), Tata Motors (Rs. 217.91 million) and Adani Power (Rs. 195.34 million).
The volume chart was led by Moh with trades of over 6.45 million shares. It was followed by Adani Power (5.61 million), TV18 Broadcast (2.97 million) and Balrampur Chini Mills (2.34 million).
