Indian equities ended flat on Thursday.At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 24.57 points or 0.08% at 31,795.46, 10 components posting rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a gain of 6.85 points or 0.07%, at 9,904.15.16 components posting rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Infosys (4.54%), Coal India (4.22%), NTPC (3.97%), Bharti Airtel (2.29%), GAIL (India) (1.07%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.95%).
On the other hand, Cipla (2.85%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.81%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.23%), Hindustan Unilever (1.04%), Tata Motors (1.03%), and Tata Power Company (0.97%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,331 advances against 1,089 declines.
BEML topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 769.18 million. It was followed by Spicejet (Rs. 627.85 million), Infosys (Rs. 543.22 million) and Reliance Industries (Rs. 490.73 million).
The volume chart was led by Birla Power Solutions with trades of over 12.09 million shares. It was followed by DQ Entertainment (International) (4.85 million), Spicejet (4.76 million) and Sam Leaseco (4.22 million).
